The trade-related Competition Bill to be laid in Parliament during the Monsoon Session will empower the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to determine if a company is abusing its dominant position in the market by studying its market share, the size of the company, economic power, commercial advantages, vertical integration, dependence of consumers and countervailing buying power in relation to those of its competitors.
Top government officials told Business Standard that the Bill sought to define dominance in enumerative and not conclusive terms.
