After a minor blip in May, the cellular phone subscriber growth came back on track in June with an addition of 350,000 users. This is around 27 per cent more than the addition in May when the cellular phone subscriptions increased by 275,000 to 6.99 million.
With this, the number of cellular phone subscribers has risen to 7.33 million. The highest number of additions was in March, when 380,000 people became cellular subscribers.
According to cellular operators, the drop in additions in May was essentially because of the government order making identity proof mandatory even for pre-paid card users.
