The central government, over the next five days, will conduct a detailed survey of more than 100,000 households in and around the city to find out the probable cases of the deadly H1N1 virus infection.

“A team of medical representatives and staffers of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have been engaged to reach each and every household to gather information on probable cases of swine flu.

The prime reason for H1N1 deaths so far has been a late confirmation of infection and hence a delayed treatment. We now want to survey every house in Pune to ensure not a single case remains ignored,” said a government official from the state swine flu control centre.

The team conducting this survey will visit every house in Pune, the sister city Pimpri-Chinchwad and surrounding suburbs like Ghorpadi, Wagholi, Alandi and Loni.

“We are gathering information on the number of people staying in a house, their ages and immediate medical history. Every individual who has reported symptoms like cold, cough or fever over the last 15 to 20 days would be immediately screened by medical experts,” the official stated.
