Central panel to study Kolkata, Haldia port links

 The five member committee, including DG shipping G S Sahani, the deputy chairmen of Haldia and Kolkata Dock System (KDS) M L Meena and M A Bhaskarachar respectively, West Bengal industry secretary Sabyasachi Sen and R R Sinha, ex deputy chairman of Mumbai Port Trust, have been given six months to come out with suggestions.

 Sources close to the development said the committee would look into different aspects of working including administrative, operational and economic issues between two systems.

 However, a large section of people at the port consider the entire exercise to be uncalled for at this juncture.
