Union ministry of Home affairs has recently issued guidelines to the states for implementing the scheme, for which Rs 35 cr. have been earmarked for this year.

Under the scheme, a family would be paid Rs. 3 lakh in the case of death or permanent incapacitation of its bread-winner. The money would be deposited in the bank and locked for three years.

This money would be in addition to the ex-gratia relief given by the state governments or any other source.

Besides, the victims of violence would also be provided with health cards to entitle them to free medical care.
