The Centre had approved a proposal of Chhattisgarh government for setting up an electronic manufacturing cluster in Naya Raipur - the upcoming new capital city of the state. The proposal was under consideration in the ministry of information technology.
According to state government officials, the ministry approved the project in its meeting held on Monday. The state government has received formal communication in this connection.The officials said that the project would cost Rs 105 crore of which Rs 50 crore would be shared by the Centre. The project would be executed by the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC).
The Naya Raipur Development Authority would coordinate for selecting the place for the project.In the proposed cluster, about 50 electronic manufacturing units would be set up that would draw an investment of about Rs 500 crore. The officials said the cluster would be developed over a period of three years.

The CSIDC had started the preparation for the same and would invite global tender to select the developer.The electronic manufacturing cluster will be equipped with modern facilities including shopping centre, ware house, hostels, tool rooms etc.
The officials said that the approval for setting up unit would help in speeding up the Chhattisgarh government's vision to promote non-core sector industry in the state.Recently, the state government had inked an agreement with the Chinese company Forstar Industry Limited (FIL) for setting up a manufacturing plant for computer systems and other mobile devices.
