Holding the Centre responsible for the rise in prices of essential commodities, Bihar Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh today demanded that it should evolve a National Price Policy.

More effective steps are required to rein in the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, especially onions and tomatoes, he said here.

States can do little to check the price spiral, he said adding "The Centre has been a failure in reining in prices."

People are suffering in the absence of a clear-cut pricing policy, he added.
