Bihar Minister for Rural Development Bhagwan Singh Kushawaha today said the Centre has released Rs 839.19 crore during the current fiscal 2009-10 for NREGA and jobs were made available to altogether 37,30,158 families on demand till the end of February this year.
Replying to a short-notice question of Nawal Kishore Yadav in the state legislative council, Kushwaha said Rs 3258.94 crore was sanctioned to Bihar for the financial year ending on March 31, 2010.
However, the Centre had released as its share a sum of Rs 839.10 crore for the financial year which just 26 per cent of the sanctioned amount.
In February job cards were issued to 1.23 crore families and 37.30 lakh families were given jobs on the demand in Bihar, he said.
