The Union home secretary GK Pillai today ruled out the military action against the Naxalites in the country. “No military action is being planned against the Naxalites. Coordinated operations by different states with help from the Centre could be beneficial for fighting the Left-wing ultras”, he said.
Pillai, who was here to review the preparedness of the state police to tackle the Naxalite menace, had discussion with senior officials of the Orissa government. Asked if the operation against the Naxalites would be supported by the aerial attacks, he said, “We do not need to go for aerial attack on the extremists to destroy their bases in the forests and hilly terrains.’’
