Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), the electricity regulatory body, has proposed doing away with lengthy procedures of filling up numerous tariff forms by the applicants while applying for the determination of provisional tariffs. This is part of the amendments to tariff regulations proposed by CERC to carry out amendments to the terms and conditions of tariff for the period 2004-09, which would be implemented from December 3,2007. "While making the application for determination of provisional tariff, it shall not be necessary to file the details as specified under Forms 5B and 5C of the tariff filing forms as applicable," said the draft notification of CERC. Besides simplification of procedure for filing application for provisional tariff, CERC has provided operational flexibility to hydro power generating stations to enable them to respond to changes in grid frequency. From now on, the hydro generating stations would be free to vary/flex their generation, and all deviations from schedule shall be accounted as unscheduled interchange (UI) without any limit or restriction. The commission has also said that any revenue earned by the generating company from sale of infirm power would be applied for reduction in capital cost and would not be treated as revenue. Infirm power is that electricity, which is sold by a generating station during the period of its trial operation (between first synchronisation with the grid and declaration of commercial operation). |
