Cers Objects To Geb & #8217;S Gainful Calculations

Consumer Education and Research Society (CERS), Ahmedabad, has filed a petition before the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) against the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) for its uncooperative approach towards consumer organisations.

The Consumer Education and Research Society filed the petition on August 7 for unlawful and gainful calculations of connected load and minimum charges. The first hearing was fixed for 27 November 2002 and further hearings are adjourned till the appointment of the GERC Chairman.

The Consumer Education and Research Society , in its petition, has highlighted the following unlawful and gainful calculations being carried out by GEB to penalise the consumers:

 

(i) The minimum charges are applicable to consumers whose premises are locked for long duration but who want to keep the electricity connection live. The minimum charges include fixed charges and the meter rent as per the Commission
