Chennai Trade Expo 2006 kicks off

Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation (TNTPO) is organising the 'Chennai Trade Expo 2006' - a trade exhibition on consumer, electronics, computers telecommunication, building interiors, furniture and lifestyle products from April 6 -16 at the Chennai Trade centre.

A press statement said that Chennai Trade Expo will have participation from overseas countries like China, Singapore, Thailand, Kenya, Vietnam, Egypt among others. Around 250 domestic and international participants are expected to showcase their products in this exhibition.

Chennai Trade Expo 2006 is being conducted by TNTPO in April, a non-season time, as an experiment. Depending on the success of the event, the trade promotion organisation would organise such exhibitions during the lean season from April to June, the release added.

TNTPO is a joint venture of India Trade Promotion, ministry of commerce, Government of India and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, Government of Tamil Nadu. The organisation was created on the lines of India Trade Promotion Organisation having the same trade-related activities, particularly exhibitions in South India.
