Traders and businessmen in Chhattisgarh will move the court of law to oppose the hike in air-fare that has gone up nearly seven folds in the past one month.

“We have decided to challenge the hike in air-fare in the Chhattisgarh High Court as the seven-fold increase is completely against the interests of not only the traders and businessmen, but also the common fliers,” Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Sreechand Sundrani said. The air-fare between Raipur and New Delhi was Rs 2,200 about a month ago. That has now gone up to nearly Rs 16,000. The state-run Air India and private carrier Kingfisher Airlines are operating daily flights between the Capital of Chhattisgarh and the national Capital.

“One can understand 10 to 20 per cent hike, but the seven-fold increase is totally uncalled for,” Sundrani said.
