Monsoon is all set to enter into Chhattisgarh well in time this year. Last year, monsoon reached here after a delay of about 15 days.

According to the weather experts in the local meteorologists centre at Lalpur here, Chhattisgarh is all set to receive the first showers of monsoon between June 10 and June 15.

Monsoon normally sets in Chhattisgarh by June 15 and a delay of two or three days is considered normal.

The director of Lalpur meteorological centre, M L Sahu said that monsoon activities could be spotted over the Bay of Bengal within the stipulated time. "The monsoon current is likely to reach Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam by June 5 and hit the southern parts of Chhattisgarh (Bastar) on June 10," Sahu added.

Last year, the monsoon was far from normal.

The first showers of monsoon lashed the region only on June 29""a delay of about a fortnight.

The delay however resulted in below normal rainfall in the state last year.

"Though at the national level a five per cent less rains had been predicted, the breakup for Chhattisgarh could be known only in the first week of June," Sahu said.

The meteorologists predicted that unlike last year, the possibility of monsoon-break after it entered into Chhattisgarh is bleak. Last year, the heavy monsoon rains hit the state after ten days of the first showers.
