Missing China, Chhattisgarh government will now search investors in Singapore and Hongkong to attract investment for the state bestowed with rich minerals.

Chhattisgarh minister of state for industry Dayaldas Baghel failed to get a visa to visit China. The development obstructed the departure of a high level delegation from the state that had planned to visit China; study the industrial growth and attract the investors to invest in the state.

The delegation led by Baghel was supposed to start on its 11-day visit early this week. Besides the industry minister, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) Badridhar Diwan, state’s industry secretary Dinesh Shrivastava, top officials of the department and representatives of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) were included in the team.

When the team reached Delhi, the officials were informed that Baghel had failed to get visa. Ironically, the other members in the delegation got the visa. The officials contacted the Chinese authorities. But their attempts went in vain as they refuse to give visa to Chhattisgarh’s industry minister.

The delegation waited for two days in New Delhi and on Wednesday left for Singapore and Hongkong—diverting the official visit from China. The officials said the team would now explore investment possibilities in Singapore and Hongkong instead of China.

The Chhattisgarh delegation is likely to return to the state on September 20
