In the second arrest of a civil liberties leader in ten days, the Chhattisgarh Police on Thursday took into custody the state president of the People's Union for Civil Liberties, Rajendra Sail.

"Sail was arrested in connection with a contempt case in which he had been sentenced to a jail term," said Raipur Superintendent of Police Lal Umed Singh.

Sail is the PUCL's second top leader, after General Secretary Vinayak Sen, to be arrested by the Raman Singh government.
