Chhattisgarh scores better than national average on health insurance scheme

As of now, 33,27,142 families have been registered and issued health insurance related smart cards in the state

Chhattisgarh had surpassed the national average in the implementation of the national health insurance scheme in the state.

According to health department officials, 89.3% of the target families in state had been covered under the scheme in Chhattisgarh as against the national average of 54%.

They said Kerala had achieved 84% target while 49% of the target families in Madhya Pradesh have been issued cards under National Health Insurance Scheme. 

The state government had set a goal to enroll 37,24,248 families under the scheme. As of now, 33,27,142 families have been registered and issued health insurance related smart cards.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, who reviewed the progress of the scheme, instructed the officials to complete the registration process of remaining 397106 families at the earliest. He also instructed that the families not registered yet should be identified and registered at the rice festival that is organized at fair price shops on 7th of every month.
 

The state government had also launched its own scheme called the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. The health department had set a target to register 19,26,476 families in the scheme in the state. 

The officials informed that under the National Health Insurance Scheme and Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme about Rs 485 crore had been granted to the beneficiary families in connection with to 769,000 medical cases in last two years.
