Union tourism minister K Chiranjeevi laid the foundation stone for the Rs 45.89-crore Visakhapatnam-Bheemili beach corridor project.
The road-cum-beach project, being funded by the ministry and 30-km in length, will be developed with land scrapings, parks, view towers, lightings to attract tourists.
Speaking on the occasion, Chiranjeevi said the Centre was planning to consider some changes in Coastal Regulation Zone norms to make investments in coastal tourism projects more attractive.
Stating that about Rs 221 crore worth of tourism projects were sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh after he took charge as tourism minister, he said the beach project when fully completed would attract more foreign tourists to Visakhpatanam.
