CII in deal with BESU, WBUT

To address the need for soft-skills development among the young professionals in the state, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) the Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU) and the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) here.

A CII-led consortium of corporates committed to provide training assistance to the faculty of universities, which would train students in soft skills.

Units in the consortium included Flakt India, Hewlett Packard, Metalogic Systems, West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation (WEBEL) and Acclaris Business Solutions, said Saugat Mukherjee, regional director of CII.

Besides looking at adding more members to the consortium, CII was working on creating a manual with the universities for soft-skills curriculum.

 

CII would aim to add more universities.

It had a similar initiative in southern india with the Andhra University and University of Madras.

Depending on requirement, the consortium could look at having dedicated pool of trainers in coming years.

Information technology and services companies were training freshers for a period of three to six months after taking them in.
