CII President Kris meets PM to discuss macro economy

Discussion focused on the role of India Inc on improving the overall economic climate, with special emphasis on investments into India

CII new president S Gopalakrishnan (Kris) today called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the issues relating to the macro economy.

The discussion focused on the role of Indian industry on improving the overall economic climate, with special emphasis on investments into India, reducing current account deficit and fiscal deficit, enhancing employability, entrepreneurship and MSME, a CII statement said.

The CII persident was accompanied by Ajay S Shriram, President Designate, CII and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII.

Earlier in his address to the CII annual general meeting last week, the Prime Minister had emphasised on macro economic stability to revert India's economic growth to eight% in the medium term.
