As a part of its endeavour to achieve inclusive growth through 'Skill Development', the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) plans to have skill mapping studies in 14 districts of the eastern states- Orissa, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Bihar and Orissa.
The 'Skill Mapping Studies' would be conducted in five districts of Orissa- Kalahandi, Bolangir, Koraput, Balasore and Jajpur.
Addressing media persons here, Kurush Grant, chairman of CII's eastern region said “CII has planned 'Skill Mapping Studies' in 14 districts in the eastern region including five in Orissa. We have already conducted Skill Gap Analysis and prepared Vision Documents for the five states in the eastern region-Orissa, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Bihar and Orissa.”
CII has also adopted 42 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI s) in the eastern region including five in Orissa. Besides, the industry body intends to create District Development Plans in 14 districts of the eastern region. Further, it aims to promote new and future cities in Orissa like Jajpur and Jharsuguda.CII wishes to engage with the state governments at various levels by assimilating industry views and public opinion. The potential areas of partnership are formulation and implementation of policies, preparation of sectoral vision documents, infrastructure development and the proposed Goods and Service Tax (GST)”, said Grant.
The other focus area of the CII is to enhance competitiveness through holding of training programmes and workshops on building competitiveness, sharing of best practices, organizing business missions and facilitating international .
