CII welcomes TN govt decision on SEZs

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has welcomed the government of Tamil Nadu's decision to create a high-level authority to administer the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the State.

According to a CII press release, the creation of an authority would give an impetus to the overall economic development of the State.

The development of industry specific SEZs is the need of the hour and the CII hopes that this move would lead to faster creation of more Special Economic Zones in the State.

The statement further said that with huge industrial development and expansion planned by industries in Tamil Nadu, the re-vitalising of SEZs would spur industrial growth and also create huge employment opportunity.

The proposed ordinance would also attract fresh investment under the public-private-partnership (PPP) route for development of SEZs in different parts of the State, according to the press release.
