CIMAP to organise farmers' fair in Lucknow

The Central Insitute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow, will be organising a day-long event named 'CIM-Utsav' (farmers' fair) on January 31.
 
The event is open for farmers, entrepreneurs and those interested in cultivation and marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs).
 
Talking to Business Standard, AK Singh, scientist and head, technology and business development, CIMAP said, "This year's theme is 'From production to marketing' which will be discussed in an interactive question answer session. Along with this we will also be enabling training for women on aromatic agarbatti and rose water making under 'sakshma' programme."
 
The other attraction of the event will be exhibition of new and improved varities with full agro technology package and economics information of MAPs and registration for sale/ availability of authentic nucleus planting material.
 
A nomonal fee of Rs 100 is to be submitted by the participants.
 
"We expect to have atleast 2, 000 people across the country. We even arrange sponsorship for poor farmers so that they can be benefitted as well. Moreover, prizes are given to the winning farmers under various competions held on health and production of MAPs," added Singh.
