Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, has asked IAS and IPS officers to ensure that the government programmes were executed properly.

At a meeting held at the Lake View guest house on Friday, the chief minister explained what he was expecting from the senior officials. “No lobbying. Performance will be the criteria when it comes to promotions and postings,” he told them.

Implying that politicians have to face elections every five years while the officers tenure was fixed and lasted for a long period, he said, “You don't have to write an exam every five years but I have to write an exam.”

He, however said that he was “positive that you are as committed as I am for the welfare of the people.”

Reddy is leaving for Delhi on Saturday to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and hold consultations with the party high command about constituting his Cabinet.

Meanwhile, several aspirants for the ministerial berths have already left for the national capital and started lobbying for inclusion of their names in the list of ministers.
