Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa today began a two-day brain-storming session with his ministerial colleagues at a resort on city outskirts to discuss ways to tone up the state administration. The exercise called ‘Manthan’ began after Yeddyurappa wound up his four-day interactive session during which he reviewed the performance of his ministers.

Facing criticism from the opposition,Yeddyurappa defended the exercise saying they would discuss about development of state in a ‘peaceful atmosphere’ and they were not on a ‘jolly trip.’ Hitting out at the Congress, Yeddyurappa said its leaders were in the “habit of criticising everything”.

Earlier, Yeddyurappa directed officials to visit rural areas to assure farmers that the government was with them. The officials should render all assistance to farmers who were anxious in the wake of monsoon playing traunt, he said and declared that there would be no fund crunch to take up relief works in scarcity-hit areas.

The government was in the process of framing an action plan to boost resource mobilisation, he said.
