Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Bangalore-based Narayana Hrudayalaya’s health city at Dumduma in Bhubaneswar. The specialised hospital is coming up with a 1,000 bed treatment centre at the city outskirt near Khandagiri Square, around 2 km from the Bhubaneswar branch of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).
The hospital, which will be spread over seven acres land, would provide super speciality treatment for heart surgery and other cardiac problems. The first phase of the hospital will have 250 beds and will cost around Rs 80 crore. “We would start construction of the hospital after the monsoon this year. Narayana Hrudayalaya will commission the first phase by 2013,” said Devi Prasad Setty, chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospitals.
He said, apart from heart related diseases, the Bhubaneshwar unit would be a world-class hospital providing all level services in all aspects of health care. The Group has plans to open more than a dozen centres across the India.
