Cong copies NTR to take on TDP

The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday hinted at introducing the Rs 2 a kg rice scheme, one of the principal electoral promises that successfully rode NT Rama Rao to power in the early 1980s.

This comes in quick response to the Opposition Telugu Desam Party's announcement that it would implement a free power scheme for farmers, the pet project of the present ruling Congress party, if it is voted back to power in the next election.
