The BJP's Karnataka unit today charged the opposition Congress and JD(S) with "hatching a conspiracy" to topple the state government.
"The single point agenda of Congress and JD(S) is to topple the state government by joining hands after election results", State unit president D V Sadananda Gowda alleged.
"The visit of former Chief Minister and JD(S) state President H D Kumaraswamy to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi substantiates the conspiracy", Gowda claimed. "Where was the necessity for Kumaraswamy to meet Sonia Gandhi at this juncture? Kumaraswamy is neither a member of the ruling party nor the leader of the Opposition to discuss state issues with Congress President", he said.
Sadananda Gowda charged both Congress and JD(S) with "indulging in a secret alliance" ever since elections were declared. He demanded that Kumaraswamy disclose details of the discussion he had with Gandhi.
"The recent developments in various parties revealed that UPA has no future and NDA will assume the mantle of power at the Centre,", he said.
Kumaraswamy met Gandhi in Delhi yesterday, triggering speculation that his party may be exploring the possibility of switching sides from Third Front to the UPA fold.
Brushing aside the matter, he told reporters at Kochi today that it (meeting) was only to discuss developments in Karnataka politics.
