Cong may announce candidate against Advani on Mar 20

Congress is likely to announce its candidate against BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani, and 13 others on March 20 in New Delhi, a top party official said.

The party is also likely to announce its candidates from Ahmedabad Saurashtra and South Gujarat, party official said.

The party has repeated candidates in all the 11 of the 12 seats as lone Kutch constituency has become reserved seat after the delimitation, and has announced Valji Danecha a former MLA.

Eight of the sitting party MPs announced in the list include Union Textile minister Shankersinh Vaghela, Union minister of state for Railways Naranbhai Rathwa and Union minister of state for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinsha Patel.

 

Five other sitting Congress MPs repeated in the list are - Jivabhai Patel (Mehsana) Madhusudhan Mistry (Sabarkantha), Bharat Solanki (Anand), Tushar Chaudhary (Bardoli) and Kishen Patel (Bulsar).

Vaghela is pitted against former Gujarat minister Prabhatsinh Chauhan who had lost to the Congress candidate C K Raolji from Godhra Assembly constituency in December 2007.
