The Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress today agreed to share 41 of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra.

While it is almost certain that the Congress and Sharad Pawar-led NCP will contest 25 and 23 seats, respectively, it is not clear how many seats will be contested by the Shiv Sena-BJP combine.

During the 2004 Lok Sabha polls, the NCP and Congress had contested 21 and 27 Lok Sabha seats, respectively.

After the fourth round of talks between senior NCP and Congress leaders, the Congress leadership agreed to give two more seats to the NCP, said NCP sources.
