The West Bengal Congress today appealed to all leaders and workers who had left the party earlier to return and make it stronger prior to the assembly elections scheduled next year. “All who left the Congress should return to make the party stronger,” WBPCC chief Manas Bhunia said at a function held to welcome back Trinamool Congress leader Mohd Rafiq who returned to Congress after a gap of almost 12 years.
Bhunia said he would also apprise AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who will arrive here tomorrow, of the "murders and killings orchestrated by CPI(M) across the state." He told reporters that he would approach the state administration to facilitate those rendered homeless in areas like Keshpur, Garbeta, Goaltore and other places.
