Congress helping BJP gain ground: CPM

Observing the BJP as a party "unfit to rule India" the CPI(M) today said that during the BJP rule the agrarian crises began and it's still continuing. "The entire agriculture sector was in disarray and thousands of peasants committed suicide. It was under NDA rule that there was a drastic cut back in public investment in agriculture and rural development expenditure which caused acute distress among the peasantry and the rural poor", the PD article said.

 

However, on the foreign policy issues, the CPI(M) has tried to hold counsel for the UPA from the BJP's criticism and said that the BJP's resolution in its recently-concluded National Executive  is "nothing more than double speak and hypocrisy". According to the CPI(M), "many of the foreign policy measures that it pursued while in government is now being attacked
