When BJP-JMM-RJD(U)-Ajsu-led coalition government headed by Arjun Munda was counting on its achievements on completion of one year in office on September 10, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee has released 52-page “failure” report portraying a grim picture of the state in terms of rising corruption, failure to utilize funds provided by the Centre for central-sponsored schemes and large-scale irregularities in financial management.
Refuting the allegations of the state Congress and other opposition parties, chief minister Arjun Munda claimed that Jharkhand had not only achieved a growth rate of 11.4% for 2010-11 but also achieved a growth rate of 10.6% for 11th Five Year Plan against the target of 9.8 %.Munda cited several achievements during last one year of his government. Among them: prosecution against 300-odd corrupt employees, panhayat polls after 3 decades, Mukhya Mantri Dal Bhat Yujna for poor people and Right to Service Act for time-bound service to people.
In a related development, a delegation of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) led by its president Babulal Marandi met the state governor Syed Ahmed on Sunday and demanded a CBI probe into the alleged large-scale irregularities in allotment of contract. Marandi alleged that the Arjun Munda-led government recently allotted construction of three roads to Jharkhand Road Project Implementation Company Limited on build, operate and transfer basis.
