Reddy was replying to a volley of questions on whether the pursuit of the cases against Narasimha Rao will lead to the downhfall of the UF government.
The courts have been seized of the Lakhubhai Pathak and the St Kitts cases for some time now and they are directly dealing with the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing these cases, he said.
Reddy asserted that these issues would have nothing to do with the longevity or the stablity of the H D Deve Gowda government. On the St Kitts cas,e where an attempt was made by the then Rajiv Gandhi government to discredit V P Singh, Reddy maintained that Singh was not a complainant and the CBI was monitoring the case on the basis of a public interest ligitation. On reports that a section of the Congress leadership favoured joining the UF government to provide more stability, Reddy said at the moment I am part of the United Front. The United Front is receiving support from the Congress for ideological reasons and we are thankful to that party for the gesture. Asked whether he would rule out the possibility of Congress joining the UF government, Reddy said neither do I concede nor do I rule out the proposal. All these are just speculations and only the press has the privilege of indugling in it.
