A survey has found that the corporate sector is overwhelmingly in favour of companies disclosing their funding of political parties or candidates contesting elections.

The companies contributing money to political parties should also be eligible for tax concessions, the respondents to the survey, carried out by Indian Chamber of Commerce, said.

The quick survey, which sought to gauge the corporate sector's perceptions about the forthcoming general elections, revealed that 86 per cent of respondents, from a sample of 100 companies, favoured disclosure of poll funding in public documents of the companies.

According to the respondents, the companies fear they would be discriminated against should a political party, not funded by them, is voted to power.
