The Orissa council of ministers meeting chaired by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the draft supplementary demand of grants for 2009-10.
It has provided for the assistance to the farmers hit by crop loss, matching grant for the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), Zero Base Projects, Biju Kandhamal and Biju Gajapati Yojana.
Talking to the media after the meeting, the finance minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai said, the requirement on account of the salary of the employees, pension, loan liabilities have been taken into account in making provisions for various departments.
Though the growth of tax and non-tax revenue during the first quarter of the current fiscal was negative, it has showm marked improvement. The government will be able to achieve the revenue collection target set in the budget for 2009-10, Ghadai added.
