The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s special court on Friday refused to grant either a police custody of Karnataka former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) managing director Srinivas Reddy to the CBI or a bail to the accused, retaining them in judicial remand. Judge Naga Maruthi Sharma issued orders while dismissing the custody and bail petitions to this effect.
The orders came in the light of the comments made by the judge while hearing the petition filed by the CBI that there were no fresh grounds to grant custody after the lapse of the initial 15 days of judicial remand.
Similarly, the judge refused to grant bail in the wake of the CBI's request against the plea , which said releasing Janardhan Reddy and his associate will hamper the investigation at this crucial stage. Both the accused will be produced before the court on October 3, when the judicial remand extended for 14 more days by the court completes.
