CPI announces list of candidates for LS, Assembly polls in AP

The Communist Party of India (CPI) today released its list of candidates for the general elections and the Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh.

Sitting MP Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy will seek re-election from Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency while the party will field a new face, Kunja Srinivasa Rao for the Mahbubabad seat.

Two sitting MLAs, Chada Venkat Reddy and G Demudu, have been renominated for the Assembly elections while a former MLA K Subba Raju has also got another chance to try his luck.

CPI state secretary K Narayana held talks with TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu till early this morning to finalise seat-sharing.

 

As per the agreement, the CPI has been given two Lok Sabha and 14 Assembly seats. The party is seeking one more Assembly seat from the TDP but it has not yet been finalised, party sources said.
