As Bengal government has failed to manage uninterrupted power supply to large parts of the state and even Kolkata is reeling under severe power cut, Governor Gandhi announced that he will put off the power supply in Raj Bhawan for two hours everyday.

This step of the Governor, showcases the miserable power situation in the state and has irked the ruling party. Earlier, Biman Bose, the party state chief questioned the need to have governor's post while his colleague and Rajya Sabha MP Shyamal Chakraborty rediculed Gandhi and said, "The Raj Bhawan has so much of space, why doesn't he share some space for the slum dwellers. There is a food crisis also in the country. It will be better if the governor skips a meal as well".
