The CPI(M) on Friday said that it was opposed to the demand for a separate state in the Darjeeling hills.
“Our stand is clear. We will never support a demand for a separate Gorkhaland in Darjeeling hills, but will welcome permanent peace, Leader of the Opposition Suryakanta Mishra told reporters commenting on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's current visit to the hills.
To a question, he said that permanent peace in the hills would depend on the stand of the Centre, state government and the Morcha.
