The CPI today demanded the removal of Labour Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao accusing him of not being serious about labour issues.

"He does not even call meetings of parliamentary panels attached to his ministry," CPI MP Gurudas Dasgupta said in a press briefing today.

"We want a new labour minister to be appointed by the PM. The present minister can be made a minister without portfolio. He does not even call meetings of the Standing Committee when India's labour force is facing the greatest crisis. He roams about in Andhra Pradesh," he said.

The CPI MP also demanded the appointment of a 'full-fledged External Affairs Minister.
