Ever since the state government contracted a team of ex-servicemen to patrol the Mumbai-Pune expressway, incidence of crime on the expressway have fallen drastically. In fact, the expressway has seen zero incidence of crime in the last 50 days.
Keeping in mind the importance of providing safety and security to users of the expressway, the state government and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) had deputed a special security force known as Delta Force to patrol the expressway and assist local police.
Plans are now being formulated to set up an effective communication system along the expressway by utilising the latest communications and satellite facilities.
