The extent of crop loss in the second spell of devastating flood in the state will be assessed by the end of this month.
A joint committee consisting of officials of the departments of revenue and agriculture will make a detailed assessment of the crop loss. This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by the state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
After assessment of crop loss, the state government will offer input subsidy to the affected farmers in November this year. This subsidy will be doled out to the actual cultivators.
At the state level, five committees will be constituted under the chairmanship of the Special Relief Commissioner, Pradipta K Mohapatra to oversee rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the aftermath of the flood.
Similarly, district level committees will also be set up under the respective district collectors to monitor the flood related work at the district level.
