The CRPF personnel would arrive at violence-torn Nandigram in West Bengal by next week after the Centre agreed to send the para-military force. |
"The CRPF will be arriving at Nandigram by next week," sate Home Secretary P R Roy said today. |
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had sought the para-military force for Nandigram on October 29 during a telephonic talk with Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil. |
The state government has sought one battalion of CRPF personnel for Nandigram plagued by recurring violence since the past 10 months. |
Roy said Chief Secretary A K Deb had a discussion with the Union Home Ministry in this regard yesterday. |
To a question, Roy said that the central force would be deployed at Nandigram, adjacent to CPI(M) stronghold of Khejuri, and other places where violence is still continuing. |
"The deployment part will be finalised after discussions," he said. |
