Crude oil price tops $81/barrel in Asian trades

Nymex crude oil price topped $81 per barrel in Asian trades today - setting another record in a market worried about tight supplies.

At 0653 IST, New York's main futures contact, light sweet crude for delivery in October, jumped 51 cents to $81.8 per barrel.

The price passed the yesterday night record in New York when the contract spiked $1.47 to $80.57 per barrel after an earlier intra-day high of $80.70.
