Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa along with cabinet colleagues Home Minister R Ashok, Medical Education Minister S Ramadas, Forest Minister C.H. Vijayshankar, accompanied by the scion of the Mysore royal family Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wodeyar, mayor Sandesh Swamy worshipped the sacred idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari housed inside the golden howdah and carried by lead elephant Balarama (aged 52) during the world-famous Dasara procession in Mysore today. Balarama was flanked by Mary and Kanti.
Colourful tableaux, dance groups, music bands, coparisoned elephants, horses and elephants formed a part of the procession that started from the Mysore Palace and culminated at Bannimantap.
The procession marks the end of the 10th day of the 400th Dasara celebrations.
An estimated 800,000 people witnessed the world-famous Dasara procession, according to the administration.
