The Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet tomorrow afternoon to thank the voters of the country for the resounding victory of the party in the elections.
"The CWC will meet tomorrow afternoon with a single point agenda of thanking the voters for reposing their faith in the Congress," AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi told reporters here.
On the election results, Dwivedi said that this was perhaps the first time that a coalition government did not have anti-incumbency against it.
He said that it was also the first coalition government which fulfilled its promises made in the 2004 manifesto and the Common Minimum Programme.
"We gave an annual report card of the government to the people," he said on the success of the ruling party in the elections.
Listing four other factors for the victory of the party, the Congress leader said that the way party President Sonia Gandhi provided leadership, there was respect for that.
He also pointed to the manner in which Prime Minister Manmohan Singh led the government with dedication and responsibility as another factor for the impressive performance of the UPA.
The third factor, according to Dwivedi, was the manner in which Rahul Gandhi led the campaign.
