The government today said payments to eight foreign vendors for Commonwealth Games (CWG) related works totalling to over Rs 16 crore are held up as certain clarifications have been sought from them.
"The Organising Committee (OC) has reported that legitimate payments to 37 foreign vendors have already been made," Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Ajay Maken said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
In case of eight other vendors, Maken said payments "are held up because of want of certain clarifications being sought from them for finalising their cases".
He said the OC had entered into around 550 contracts involving both domestic and foreign vendors out of which payments to only 70 vendors are pending.
"The OC has further informed that four overlays suppliers are currently under investigation and therefore it has not completed the full and final payments to these vendors," Maken said.
Among the major firms, while Rs 103.15 crore has been paid to Swiss Timing, Rs 5.94 crore is yet to be paid.
Likewise, while Rs 33.60 crore has been paid to K Events SRL, Rs 1.82 crore is yet to be paid.
