India's experience of safely hosting the Commonwealth Games (CWG) last November will be used in managing security at the 2012 London Olympics, an official said here today.
Colonel Tim Martin, the top counter-terrorism expert of the United Kingdom, highlighted the Indian security forces' efficiency in handling the 2010 Games without any incident.
"We want to take such security expertise from the Indian security forces and manage London Olympics 2012 safely," Col Martin said on the sidelines of Global Security Asia conference and exhibition.
He added that such large-scale Games would remain major targets of terrorists anywhere in the world.
Appreciating the Delhi Games security management and having learned about it from Indian security forces, Col Martin called for bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation in tackling the terrorism.
"We see India as an important and strategic partner in many aspects including security and international counter-terrorism," said Col Martin, who is the senior advisor within the Defence and Security Organisation of the United Kingdom Trade and Investment Department.
