Cygnus, the business consulting and research arm of Icfai, on Monday launched the Cygnus Industry Academic Collaboration (CIAC) programme with an objective to make MBA students ‘industry-ready’.

As a part of the programme, students will undergo career-oriented workshops for periods ranging from two weeks to four weeks, wherein they will be trained by Cygnus senior managers on how to apply the knowledge that they have gained while studying MBA, in practice, ORS Rao, director of Cygnus, told mediapersons.

“We have launched the programme at Icfai business schools in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata and Mumbai on an experimental basis last year, which benefited around 1,000 students. This year, we are looking at extending the CIAC to other business schools in the country. We are in discussion with a few B-schools and expect at least 2,000 students to get enrolled themselves for the programme in the first year,” he said.

Under the CIAC, fee structure for which has been fixed at Rs 10,000, every student will be required to do hands-on projects in specific functional areas under the guidance of Cygnus managers. Besides, they will be trained on business research tools like information search and business analysis as well as essential soft skills like business communication and presentation, he added.
